I photographed a family with their three dogs at home in Okazaki, Aichi. We moved between the living room and the spacious garden, keeping the session close to the places where the dogs already felt comfortable.
Let the dogs meet the photographer
All three dogs were wonderfully friendly and came close without barking. Giving animals time to investigate the camera and the new person helps the session begin with curiosity rather than pressure.
Inside and outside tell different stories
The living room preserved the family’s everyday closeness, while the garden gave the dogs more room to move. Switching between the two spaces created a varied gallery without taking them far from familiar surroundings.
Pets are part of the family record
A pet session is not only about getting every dog to look at the camera at once. The way they approach, rest, follow the family, and interact with one another is just as meaningful—and often becomes the most personal part of the photographs.
