I photographed a newborn at the family’s home in Seto, Aichi, with time set aside for the baby, an older sister, both parents, and the family dog. The session was designed to include everyone without rushing the baby.
Soft newborn portraits
The baby slept on a small bed and was photographed in a pale-green swaddle, with rabbit and dragon bonnets and a calligraphy name board. These prepared images preserved the baby’s tiny size while keeping the overall tone gentle.
A sister’s way of welcoming the baby
The children lay side by side, and I photographed the older sister and mother looking softly toward the baby. A playful frame with both children placing their hands behind their heads became a particularly memorable family moment.
Making the home work for the family
We adjusted the setup to reduce distracting furniture and made a full family portrait with the parents and dog. Every home is different, so I adapt the background and available space while being honest about what can be created safely in a real living environment.
