I photographed twin babies’ first shrine visit at Hakusangu in Nisshin, Aichi. I had photographed newborn twins before, but this was my first time documenting an omiyamairi celebration for twins.

Finding a location that worked for the family

I helped the family look for a shrine within a manageable travel distance, and we chose Hakusangu in Nisshin. Planning the location around the family’s journey was an important first part of the session.

Twin babies and their energetic older brother

Alongside the babies’ quiet expressions, I photographed their older brother running around with plenty of energy. The contrast between the twins and their brother created a warm, lively record of the whole family’s day.

Shrine information at the time of the session

At the October 2023 session, the goshuin offering was ¥500 and PayPay was accepted. The shrine office also advised that photography was allowed on the grounds and that the prayer could be photographed from outside the building while keeping shutter noise low. Rules, applications, fees, and payment methods may change, so please confirm the latest information directly with Hakusangu before your visit.
