Scenes from the day
I visited a family home in Hakusan, Ishikawa, for a newborn photography session. The family hoped for both solo portraits of the baby and photographs of the baby together with their three-year-old older sibling.
The baby and an older sibling
Alongside the baby’s individual portraits, I photographed the two children sharing the same frame. These photographs preserve not only how small the newborn was, but also the beginning of their relationship as siblings.
Making room for each child’s pace
While the baby rested, I continued photographing the older child’s expressions and gestures. The session moved between the baby’s quiet moments and the older sibling’s own personality without asking either child to hurry.
